SAP Cloud ALM APIs for Operations

At the moment SAP Cloud ALM for operations is supporting these types of APIs:

  • SAP Cloud ALM Analytics API
  • SAP Cloud ALM RAW Data APIs
  • SAP Cloud ALM Landscape API
  • Transactional APIs (SAP Cloud ALM Event APIs)
  • Integration Scenarios

SAP Cloud ALM Analytics API

The SAP Cloud ALM Analytics API enables you to build dashboards and reports aggregating all types of data managed by SAP Cloud ALM for operations. The SAP Cloud ALM Analytics API is described in the SAP API Business Hub.

The SAP ALM Analytics API comes with OData and REST endpoints exposing analytics data. OData can be used to provide data to SAP Analytics Cloud, whereas REST can be used for other external third-party tools.

SAP Cloud ALM RAW Data APIs

The SAP Cloud ALM Raw data API implements the OpenTelemetry protocol to provide access to the observability signals produced by SAP Cloud ALM.

This API let customers integrate their non-SAP products with SAP Cloud ALM:

  • With this API, a third-party application, an open source or an in-house tool with access to the public cloud can send their own metrics/logs/traces into SAP Cloud ALM.
  • This API can be used to consume SAP Cloud ALM metrics/logs/traces data from a third-party application, an open source, or an in-house tool.

The SAP Cloud ALM Raw data API does not cover SAP Products, as SAP Products are automatically instrumented and managed by SAP Cloud ALM. Check this guide (https://support.sap.com/en/alm/sap-cloud-alm/operations/expert-portal/data-collection-infrastructure.html) to get more information on how to activate standard OpenTelemetry automatic instrumentations for your SAP Solutions.

With the SAP Cloud ALM Raw data API you can send and receive observability data to any non-SAP backend with no specific vendor requirements and benefit of the SAP Cloud ALM automatic instrumentation agents to collect without requiring any code changes or specific integrations for popular frameworks and languages. This API lets you manipulate Raw Data from the different monitoring use-cases.

This API implements the OpenTelemetry protocol (OTLP) to read and inject raw data managed by SAP Cloud ALM with the Open Telemetry protocol. The raw data APIs are either outbound or inbound APIs:

  • Inbound means that other non-SAP applications make calls to SAP Cloud ALM's API to inject data in SAP Cloud ALM.
  • Outbound means that other non-SAP applications make calls to SAP Cloud ALM's API to read data in SAP Cloud ALM.

For more information on the available APIs, please check the:

SAP Cloud ALM Landscape API

The SAP Cloud ALM Landscape API enables you to read the landscape objects of your tenants: It includes cloud services and technical systems.

Transactional APIs (SAP Cloud ALM Event APIs)

There are also Transactional APIs, which support the following SAP Cloud ALM for operations use cases:
