Setup Steps in SAP Integrated Business Planning for Supply Chain

This page explains how to connect SAP Integrated Business Planning for Supply Chain to SAP Cloud ALM to enable the monitoring of SAP IBP.

Currently the following monitoring application are supported for SAP IBP:

  • Job & Automation Monitoring
  • Real User Monitoring

Collect Connection Information

To enable SAP Integrated Business Planning for Supply Chain to send monitoring data to SAP Cloud ALM.


  • You need an user with administrator authorizations in SAP Integrated Business Planning for Supply Chain
  • You need to obtain the SAP Cloud ALM Service Key to connect to the SAP Cloud ALM system
    • Endpoint: The host part of the service key parameter "Api", e.g.
    • OAuth URL: Service key parameter "url" + /oauth/token, e.g.
    • Client ID: Service key parameter "clientid"
    • Client secret: Service key parameter "clientsecret"

Create Communication System

  1. Log on to SAP Integrated Business Planning for Supply Chain
  2. Navigate to the 'Communication Management' view and select 'Communication Systems'
  3. If you have created already a communication system for Cloud ALM in your SAP IBP system previously (e.g. for setting up Integration Monitoring or Business Process Monitoring) you can skip this step and reuse the same in the next step "Create Communication Arrangement".
  4. Create a new communication system
    1. Enter a System ID (e.g. CALM) and description and click the Create button
    2. Enter the Cloud ALM endpoint URL in the 'Host Name' field. This depends on the data center e.g. (see also step step before).
    3. Under 'OAuth 2.0 Settings' enter the Cloud ALM OAuth URL in the field 'Token Endpoint' including the path /oauth/token (see also step step before).
    4. Under 'Users for Outbound Communication' click the + button to create a new user
      1. Authentication Method: Choose OAuth 2.0
      2. OAuth 2.0 Client ID: Enter Cloud ALM client ID
      3. Client Secret: Enter Cloud ALM client secret
    5. Save the communication system.

Create Communication Arrangement

The Communications Arrangement is necessary to schedule the collectors.

  1. Navigate to the 'Communication Management' view on the SAP Integrated Business Planning for Supply Chain launchpad
  2. Select 'Communication Arrangements'
  3. Check first if a Communication Arrangement exists already for your Cloud ALM.
    1. Enter 0527 in the Search field. If you find something check if it uses the same Communication System from step before and you can skip the next steps until step 6.
  4. Create a new Communication Arrangement
    1. Scenario: Enter SAP_COM_0527
    2. Arrangement Name: you can keep the default.
  5. Common Data: Select the communication system
  6. Additional Properties
    1. Select the data you want to collect.
      Please note that we right now only support Job Monitoring (Job & Automation Monitoring)  and Performance Monitoring (Real User Monitoring) for SAP IBP 
  7. Outbound Services 
    1. Enter '/' into Path and press enter to get Service URL filled (with e.g.
    2. Job Execution Details
      Ensure the job runs every minute:
