Current status

SAP meters SAP Private Cloud production and development systems on a monthly basis. This includes SAP Private Cloud Use (FUEs) as well as SAP Private Cloud Engines. Please note any additional comments in SAP for Me on the SAP Private Cloud Metering Card, as they provide key information about the metering for specific SAP Private Cloud products.

Please find the process step explanations below.

User types metering

The guideline explains the automated metering process and gives recommendations on the user classification.

Have a sneak preview of the process.

FUE data interpretation and discrepancy checklist

The automated metering is based on assigned authorizations. The S/4HANA Trusted Authorization Service provides STAR reports to offer insights into the roles and authorizations that drive the classification. Please note that discrepancies may arise between the automated metering and STAR reports. The below document

-provides further details and a checklist to help identifying possible causes of discrepancies

-helps to understand the SAP Private Cloud metering results of FUE (Full Use Equivalent)

-helps to understand differences of data from different sources.

Process steps

User type descriptions and price lists

The relevant Price List must be chosen in the system measurement program (transaction USMM) to activate the correct user types for classification, either

  • 06 - SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud Edition or
  • 07 - SAP ERP Private Cloud Edition

Find the user types and the descriptions per price list in the tables below.

Determine relevant price list

The table Licence Material Mapping to USMM Price List helps to determine the correct price list to be selected in USMM. All relevant material numbers and descriptions are bundled per price list.

In your contract document you will find the licensed FUE subscription material number with which you can determine the correct price list.

The table SAP Private Cloud Price Lists provides all available user types per price list as well as a description per user type.

Missing user types/price list

If you cannot find the required user type in the corresponding table or the price list is not available, you can import a report to update the tables, and price lists respectively.

Private Cloud User Types and Price Lists

There are three options to bring the user types into your systems, depending on your internal rules you may choose the one which suits you best.

  1. Create and execute the report directly in all your systems.
  2. Create and execute the report in the development system and transport the created entries into the other systems.
  3. Create and execute the report in a development system, transport it into the other systems and execute it there.

If you use either option 1 or 2, save the report as a local object (see below step 5). If you want to transport the report, you have to save it in a workbench task for the transport.

  1. Log on to the target system
  2. Open the ABAP editor, transaction SE38
  3. Create a new report, for example, ZTUTYP_UPD
  4. Choose attribute "Type" as "Executable program"
  5. Save your entries as "Local object" or in a workbench task, depending on your scenario
  6. Load the report text from the download to the text editor (Notepad) and save the text on the clipboard
  7. Return to the ABAP editor and insert the text from the clipboard
  8. Save, activate, and run the report

Engine metering & self-declaration products

The engine metering is divided into two different areas: one area is the automated, SAP system supported metering and the other area is the self-declaration of products, of which the usage cannot be determined automatically.
