Setup Steps in SAP Field Service Management

Activate Integration Monitoring in SAP Field Service Management

Integration Monitoring is disabled in SAP FSM by default, so before you can access the data with SAP Cloud ALM it needs to be activated.

Prerequisites

  • You need a user with account-level administrator authorizations

Enable Integration Monitoring for ERP Systems (SAPB1/ECC)

  1. Navigate to Admin > Account > Company > ERP Connector
  2. Set "Integration Monitoring enabled" = true
Enable Integration Monitoring for FSM Connector (C4C & S4)
  1. Navigate to Admin > Account > Company > FSM Integrations > FSM Connector
  2. Set "Integration Monitoring enabled" = true

Collect OAuth Connection Information

SAP Cloud ALM uses a data pull to collect the monitoring information available. For this pull you will need to create an end-point in Cloud ALM. To authenticate against SAP FSM you need to use OAuth authentication. 

To obtain the OAuth credentials Client ID and Client Secret please perform the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Admin > Clients
  2. Click the 'Create' button
  3. This will create a new Client ID / Client Secret pair. You can change the Client ID if needed
  4. Click 'Save'
  5. Copy the Client ID and the Client Secret before moving away from the screen

Setup Steps in SAP Cloud ALM

Create HTTP End-Point

  1. Open the Landscape Management application from the launchpad
  2. Select your SAP Field Service Management service
  3. Press the > button at the end of the line
  4. On the tab "Endpoints" press the Add button to create a new end-point
  5. Enter a description
  6. Choose the use-case "Integration Monitoring"
  7. Adjust the entry in Root URL. To access the backend API you must choose the coresystems.com for your region without any trailing path:
    • US: https://us.coresuite.com
    • DE: https://de.coresuite.com
    • EU: https://eu.coresuite.com
    • CN: https://cn.coresuite.cn
  8. Choose OAUTH authentication enter the OAuth credentials retrieved from SAP Field Service Management:
    • Client ID: Enter the Client ID
    • Client Secret: Enter the Client Secret
    • Token Service URL: https://auth.coresuite.com/api/oauth2/v1/token

Activate Monitoring (Standard)

In SAP Cloud ALM you can easily activate the standard monitoring content without any additional setup effort. 

  1. Open the Integration & Exception Monitoring application from the launchpad
  2. Open the scope selection via the target icon in the upper right corner
  3. Change the drop-down for Display Service to "All"
  4. Select your cloud service in the scope
  5. Click the rack-wheel icon in the upper right corner to access the configuration
  6. Expand the Configuration panel
  7. Change the toggle button next to the cloud service from OFF to ON

Adjust Monitoring and Alerting (Expert)

You can change which parts of the standard content are activated for each cloud service, activate and deactivate alerts or create own alerts with specific filters. 

  1. In the configuration panel, click on the name of the cloud service
  2. The "Configuration of Services" screen opens
  3. In the "Configuration for Services" screen, click the > button at the end of the line for the cloud service you want to change

Adjust Monitoring Categories

  1. Use the toggle button in the column Active to turn a monitoring category ON or OFF

Adjust Alerting

  1. Use the toggle button in the column Active to turn a standard alert ON or OFF
  2. Press the > button at the end of the line to access the detail setup for an existing alert or use the + button to create a new alert
  3. Adjust the display name if desired
  4. Expand the Filter Configuration tray
  5. Enter a filter name
  6. Select the filter category
  7. Maintain the available filter fields (see details below)

Available Alerts for SAP Field Service Management

  • Erroneous SAP Field Service Management Message Detected: Creates an alert for each failed message in SAP Field Service Management
  • Erroneous SAP Field Service Management Messages Detected: Creates an alert if one or more failed messages on SAP Field Service Management were detected since the last data collection

Available Filter Fields for SAP Field Service Management

The filter fields depend on the monitoring category the alert is created for and additional on the filter category, if there is more than one available.

SAP Field Service Management Transactions

General Filters:

  • Messages older than N Minutes: only messages older than N minutes will be considered
  • Direction: Inbound or Outbound

The following filters filter the status of the message (Status Details card)

  • Status: Status of the message
  • Status Group: Successful, Warning, Error, In Process, Canceled, Others
  • Status Text: Filter on the Status Text
