Guided Self Services

With Guided Self Services, SAP offers you proven procedures to analyze and optimize your systems. These procedures are based on the experience of service deliveries to thousands of SAP systems.

Guided Self Services are delivered through SAP Solution Manager and available to improve the most common areas like system performance, data volume management, change management, security optimization and business processes.

SAP Enterprise Support customers can use them when and how often you want.

Procedure

During the execution, you benefit from guided step-by-step procedures. You can provide feedback and interact with SAP experts (see graphic).

There are Expert Guided Implementation (EGI) sessions for most Guided Self Services. In EGIs, you do exercises on your own systems which makes participation an optimal preparation for the execution of Guided Self Services.

Technical Prerequisites

  • SAP Solution Manager Release 7.0 EHP1 with SP23
  • The use of the content update within the Solution Manager ensures that self-service content is up to date, independent and if it is SP23 or higher. See further information in SAP Note 1143775

The Guided Self Service for Data Consistency Management (GSS DCM) in SAP Solution Manager should be the central starting point of all investigations related to Data Consistency. It provides guidance on how to check and ensure data consistency in certain scenarios, for example, after a corruption of a database table or a business object. It supports the detection, the analysis and the resolution of inconsistencies and provides ad-hoc consistency analysis procedures that are required after specific solution lifecycle events. Results of data consistency investigation activities can be documented in the GSS to support handover and archiving of executed actions.

This procedure gives you easy access to HANA sizing rules given in SAP Notes and SAP Quicksizer. It calculates necessary memory and disk sizes of the planned HANA appliance.

This service identifies transport related problems like import or sequence errors proactively before the import is done. It also predicts the import times and identifies problems because of different software versions in the export and import system. It provides best practice recommendations on how these errors can be avoided. As a result, the import gets more robust and the stability of the production system is improved.

... enables you to monitor different aspects of the HANA Appliance. Dedicated EGI training is not necessary.

You can analyze the workload, size and growth of tables and data on disk. You can also detect potential performance bottlenecks regarding memory usage and identify incorrect configuration settings in your HANA landscape. In addition, statistics of the Solution Landscape Transformation (SLT) Mechanism are displayed.
