The Self-Monitoring scenario is based on the same Template Concept as the System Monitoring. For details please refer to the System Monitoring page. The standard Self-Monitoring templates are automatically assigned and activated during Simple System Integration (SSI) of a technical system. There is no additional setup procedure necessary.
However, before the production usage it is highly recommended to review the standard settings and adjust them if required by creating the custom templates.
Till SAP Focused Run 4.0 FP02 the Self-Monitoring Template Maintenance can be only accessed via transaction MAI_TOOLS --> section Configuration --> Template Maintenance for Self-Monitoring. As of SAP Focused Ru 4.0 FP03 in the Self-Monitoring Dashboard a link to the Template Maintenance UI will be added under Related Links.
The Self-Monitoring application in SAP Focused Run offer checks on the status of the internal functionalities in SAP Focused Run itself and the integration status of the managed systems. This ensures that both, data-reception and data-processing, function smoothly.
There are two applications to check the current status. Self-Monitoring Dashboard located in the Infrastructure Administration Fiori Launchpad group, is the main application to check the infrastructures health state. In addition to that, the system-specific status of the Self-Monitoring metrics is displayed as a separate category in the System Monitoring hierarchy in the "Technical System" section.
The Self-Monitoring Dashboard comes with the predefined set of pages/dashboards described below.
Overview/MAI Engine Runtime
The Monitoring and Alerting Infrastructure (MAI) is the central application for a range of SAP Focused Run applications (System Monitoring, System Analysis). All measured data from the Simple Diagnostics Agents are stored in table MAI_UDM_STORE. Events and alerts are then calculated using the predefined threshold values. These calculation runs should not take longer than 60 seconds.
This page is divided into two parts. The MAI Job Runtime shows the MAI Engine statistics on a bar chart.

Simple Diagnostics Agent
The availability and the versions of SAP Host Agent and Simple Diagnostics Agent can be displayed on this page based on the scope selection.

MAI Data Quality
Ensuring a dependable system monitoring process necessitates a consistent data flow. Breaks in data collection may lead to critical states in a monitored system going unnoticed by the System Monitoring, resulting in a lack of alerting. The MAI Data Quality page provides an overview of the current data quality, highlighting any grey values or errors in data collection for pertinent metrics. Clicking on a product type from the overview page navigates to the Metric Details, displaying individual metrics with a rating, last collection timestamp, and, if available, a value text. Collector Errors denote black-rated metrics with specific errors and descriptions, while grey-rated metrics typically signal issues with the infrastructure, such as timeouts or agents that are unreachable. It's important to note that only metrics within the defined scope are listed, and this scope is customizable.
CA APM/Introscope
Some data for BOBJ, SAP Netweaver Java or .net are determined via APM/Introscope. The status of the corresponding Enterprise Manager can be checked here.
Managed Systems
This dashboard offers a summary of the present status of components required for data collection on a managed system, organized by the respective managed system.
Clicking an a technical system from the overview page navigates to the Managed System Details, displaying the status of individual metrics grouped by component. The context-sensitive navigation to the individual components is possible via the status icons. Each component has its own subtree, which can be expanded and collapsed by using the corresponding buttons (Expand All and Collapse All).
Central Components
Provides a summary in hierarchical form of the status of important internal data collectors and data processors. This overview is independent of the selected scope and relates to the SAP Focused Run system as such.
Remark:
1 - Introduced as of SAP Focused Run 4.0 FP03. To be able to see the metrics, a template reconfiguration is required.
Therefore, go to System Monitoring Advanced Configuration. On the Manual Template Assignment in the filter bar select the Self-Monitoring as Monitoring Use Case and Technical Component as Managed Object Type. Click on 'Reconfigure'.
2 - The Expert Scheduling Management template comes with metrics that are initially inactive. To utilize these metrics, create a custom template and ensure to activate the necessary metrics.
