Synthetic User Monitoring - Infrastructure
How to Configure the SUM Infrastructure
You configure the Synthetic User Monitoring (SUM) infrastructure by performing the tasks described in the SAP Focused Run Master Guide.
In the Master Guide, the Important tasks for SUM are:
- Configuration of SAP Focused Run Application Foundation
- Business Scenarios of SAP Focused Run – Advanced User Monitoring
Then, the housekeeping engine and the alerting engine are automatically configured the first time a user accesses the SUM Configuration (i.e. the configuration section in the SUM Monitoring application).
SUM Configuration - Infrastructure Section
The SUM Infrastructure settings can verified via the Infrastructure section of the SUM Configuration. It is divided in 3 sub-sections:
- Services
- Housekeeping Engine
- Alerting Engine
Services
Indicates the status of the main SUM services:
- Gateway Service: for the communication between the SUM Monitoring UIs and the SUM Backend (SAP Focused Run server) - for the Monitoring data (metrics and model)
- Data Push Service: to push the Scenarios execution metrics from the Locations to the SUM Backend (SAP Focused Run server)
- Data Pull Service: for the communication between the SUM Monitoring UIs and the SUM Backend (SAP Focused Run server) - for the Configuration data.
Housekeeping Engine
Indicates the status and the settings of the SUM housekeeping engine.
The SUM housekeeping settings determine the lifetime of the SUM metrics.
When a metric is older than the configured lifetime (by default 60 days), the next housekeeping engine execution will delete it.
The housekeeping engine runs once per day (by default at 00:00 UTC).
Note that in the configuration, the times are indicated in the Local timezone.
Alerting Engine
Indicates the status and the settings of the SUM Alerting engine.
The SUM Alerting engine settings determine how often the engine will be executed (by default every 5 minutes)
During its execution, the SUM Alerting engine evaluates all the SUM Alert definitions against the SUM metrics and emit the needed alerts.
