Health Monitoring for SAP BTP Neo

Available Monitoring Content

For SAP BTP, Neo environment, Health Monitoring can monitor custom Java applications deployed on the SAP BTP subaccount. You can find these applications in the SAP BTP Neo subaccount under "Applications" > "Java Applications". 

Application visible under "Application" > "Subscriptions"  can currently not be monitored.

The following metrics are available:

Additionally Health Monitoring can consume events which are sent by the SAP Alert Notification Service of SAP BTP Neo. Each event can be displayed as an alert in the Alert Inbox of Health Monitoring.

The following events are supported:

Java Application EventAvailability CheckAn availability check event is triggered if the availability check in Monitoring Service for your Java application is configured. An event is sent if the application is not available or the response time is longer than the configured thresholds. Another event is sent again when the application is available again or the response time is back to normal.
SAP HANA Database EventSAP HANA Database AvailabilitySAP HANA database availability event notifies if the database is reachable from the central administration component via JDBC. If the metric is critical, then the database is down, overloaded, or there is a network issue.

Please follow the following page to perform the setup steps for the connection setup of the managed cloud service.

Note: After the configuration steps above, by default the SAP BTP Neo cloud service instance will not be monitored. You need to add the new subaccount to the scope and perform further configuration in Health Monitoring. 

Monitor Java Applications

  1. Open the Health Monitoring application from the launchpad
  2. Click the scope icon in the upper right corner to access the Scope Selection
  3. Select the desired cloud service and apply the selection
  4. Click the rack-wheel icon in the upper right corner to access the configuration
  5. Click the pencil icon to show the Configuration for Cloud Services
  6. Go to the configuration and enter tab “Data Collection”
  7. Activate the Java applications you want to monitor
  8. In order to activate alerting and create notifications for events “Java Application Status”, “Java Memory Utilization”, “Java Disk Space Usage” and “Java Response Time”, enter tab “Events” and edit the entries accordingly

Receive alerts from the SAP Alert Notification Service.

  1. Open the Health Monitoring application from the launchpad
  2. Click the scope icon in the upper right corner to access the Scope Selection
  3. Click the button “Toggle Filter Bar” to show more filters. Set the “Service Status” to “All” to also show unconfigured services. Click “Go” to execute the scope query, select the desired cloud service and apply the scope
  4. Click the rack-wheel icon in the upper right corner to access the configuration
  5. Click the pencil icon to show the Configuration for Cloud Services
  6. In order to activate alerting for the events “Availability Check” and “SAP HANA Database Availability”, enter tab “Alert Notification Service” and control the alert activation by means of the switches
