Mission

Autonomous Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)

Our mission with Autonomous ALM is to establish SAP Cloud ALM for operations as the central, cloud-native, autonomous, business-aware platform that continuously observes, understands, and optimizes hybrid SAP landscapes — delivering complete transparency and ensuring business continuity.

We simplify configuration and onboarding, provide highly reliable, business-aware alerting with automatic situation detection, proactively prevent disruptions before they affect the business, and resolve issues automatically through agentic, governed auto-remediation with human oversight, clear guardrails, and full auditability.

By aligning operations with business intent and SLAs and equipping users with AI-assisted analytics and cross-cloud dashboards, we deliver predictable outcomes, lower operational effort and cost, maintain compliance, and move toward self-healing with minimal human intervention.

Functional overview & core capabilities

Business Process Monitoring

  • Delivers end-to-end visibility into business processes across distributed and hybrid landscapes
  • Helps prevent disruptions, improving process execution quality, throughput, and performance
  • Monitors process health in real time, detects anomalies, and enables drill-down into business documents
  • Sends proactive alerts on disruptions and triggers automated remediation via built-in operation flows
  • Provides predefined process content with auto-discovery of relevant metrics for rapid activation

Integration & Exception Monitoring

  • Correlates individual messages into end-to-end flows across cloud services and systems for complete visibility
  • Detects and tracks integration-related exceptions in real time
  • Supports both peer-to-peer interfaces and orchestrated integrations
  • Bridges the gap between business and IT during issue resolution by:
    • Proactively alerting responsible business and IT stakeholders to integration problems
    • Enabling search and tracking of individual messages using business context attributes (e.g., order numbers)
    • Triggering context-aware operation flows via Operations Automation for automated remediation

Real User Monitoring

  • Provides visibility into application performance as experienced by the end-users and the utilization of business functionality
  • Captures performance metrics on both client and server sides to isolate root causes across the frontend, network, cloud services, and systems
  • Utilizes SAP Passport technology to correlate performance data across the frontend, cloud services, and backend systems for end‑to‑end traceability

Synthetic User Monitoring

  • Emulates typical end‑user behavior with scripted scenarios to monitor web application performance and availability
  • Leverages custom Selenium IDE scripts, ensuring broad compatibility with most web applications
  • Enables proactive detection: scenarios run at regular intervals on Selenium remote webdriver infrastructure, providing 24/7 monitoring to catch issues before end-users are affected
  • Produces consistent, comparable metrics by re‑executing the same scenarios, enabling reliable trend analysis of performance and availability over time

Job & Automation Monitoring

  • Safeguards business operations and improves process execution quality and performance by:
    • Continuously monitoring the health of job executions and detecting anomalies
    • Proactively alerting business and IT stakeholders about disruptions and exceptions
    • Providing execution‑level details and context for fact‑based root‑cause analysis and faster resolution
    • Reducing configuration effort by leveraging historical execution data for auto‑discovery and smart defaults
  • Configurable, contextual alerts: define status, run‑time, start‑delay thresholds, and receive email notifications with the job name, run details, and deep links.

Configuration & Security Analysis

  • Unified configuration visibility: explore technical configuration items in Store Browser, review evaluated changes over time, and monitor managed system status in the Administration view.
  • Continuous change detection: after service or system setup, CSA collects and uploads configuration data to SAP Cloud ALM, compares each snapshot with the previous one to identify technical changes, and persists the results for analysis.
  • Validation: configure and schedule daily compliance checks against SAP product security recommendations across services and systems, with reports confirming whether configurations match expected values.

Health Monitoring

  • Unified view of cloud service and system health to quickly identify disruptions and degradations
  • Run application health checks for SAP cloud services and systems (persistence, jobs, connectivity, etc.) with status and trend insights
  • Support for customer-built cloud services and systems, including trends, usage metrics, and KPIs
  • Embedded analytics to isolate root causes with drill-down to affected components
  • Proactive, context-rich alerting that detects issues early, routes them to the right teams, provides deep links for rapid troubleshooting, and can trigger automated remediation — reducing user impact and improving SLA compliance

Business Service Management

  • Represent business services as logical collections of technical services (cloud service tenants or system clients) that deliver specific business capabilities
  • Define customer-specific maintenance windows and events at the business service level
  • Propagate externally communicated events — maintenance, disruptions, degradations — from technical services e.g. as exposed by SAP Cloud Availability Center to business services to derive business up/down time
  • Establish service times and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) or service contracts at the business service level; measure actual availability on technical services, roll it up to the business service, and calculate SLA compliance
  • Cascade IT events defined at the business service level down to technical services so impacted users receive timely maintenance notifications

Intelligent Event Processing

  • Intelligent and unified processing of events coming from SAP Cloud ALM, other SAP sources or 3rd party senders (inbound unification)
  • Centralized and simplified configuration for event handling and routing rules (outbound unification), e.g. usage of same communication rules for alerting & business service management
  • Handling of events independently from Monitoring & Alerting, Event management focuses on Application & Business Process Operations events
  • Provides foundation of intelligent correlation for events coming from different sources e.g. correlation of manually generated with automatically generated alert
