Developer & object keys (SSCR)

The SSCR (SAP software change registration) registers all manual changes to SAP sources and SAP dictionary objects. If an ABAP developer wants to change them in an SAP system, the system will prompt for two access keys:

  • Developer key to register a user as a developer. This key must be entered only once.
  • Object key to allow changes to SAP sources or SAP dictionary objects. An object must be registered when it is changed by a registered developer for the first time. If the object is changed at a later point in time, the key is no longer requested.

Migration keys

When an SAP system is exported or imported for the purpose of performing a heterogeneous system copy (SAP OS/DB migration), a migration key must be entered into the migration tool. Each OS/DB migration requires its own key. It is assigned on the basis of the installation number and additional system-specific information.

Development namespaces

Development namespaces enable you to develop enhancements and solutions without having to agree on naming conventions with third parties. You can deploy your enhancements and solutions in any system around the world without the risk of name conflicts.

SAP allocates namespaces centrally to ensure they are exclusive. Partners and customers can only develop in reserved namespaces if their system includes a namespace-specific development key.

United States Postal Services (USPS) unlock code

Unlock codes are needed when you encounter a false-positive record in the United States Postal Service's Delivery Point Validation (DPV) or Locatable Address Conversion System (LACSLink) directories. Encountering a false-positive record causes DPV or LACSLink to lock, which halts job processing. The unlock code will allow you to unlock DPV or LACSLink and quickly resume job processing.

More information can be found in SAP Knowledge Base Article 1379554 - Information on DPV and LACSLink unlocking(opens in new tab).
