Content updates are available in the form of Support Packages of Software component FRUN-CONT in SAP Support Portal. Each content package contains the latest content updates for various functions of SAP Focused Run.

Content delivery is independent of support package delivery. Content can be individually shipped at any point of time.

Manual Content Update

  • You can download the content manually from the SAP Support Portal. It is a standard channel to ship content updates for SAP Focused Run.
  • Execute the report RCSU_MANUAL_UPLOAD in transaction SE38.
  • Import content to respective application.

Automatic Content Update (starting with SAP Focused Run 5.0 SP01)

  • The content can be downloaded automatically from the SMP.

A background job runs in the customer system which periodically checks for updates. Once a new content is available, it is automatically notified to the customer and automatic download from SMP happens based on the configuration settings.

Once the content is downloaded, customer can opt to install the content. Customer consent is mandatory for the installation.
  • For the content to be auto downloaded, the auto download configuration needs to be enabled.

Steps to Enable Auto-Download

1.)       Launch FRUN Home.

2.)        Go to Infrastructure and Administration Section and Choose Tile Rapid Content Delivery.

3.)        Click on Configuration as shown below.

4.)        In the Rapid Content Delivery Configuration window that appears, Enable the Automatic Download of new content.

Setting Up Rapid Content Delivery

Check for the RCD User

Check if the user for RCD (FRN_BTC_RCD) is present in SAP Focused Run system.

For an automatic download, make sure that the user FRN_BTC_RCD is assigned the roles SAP_FRN_RCD.

The background job does the following:

  • Checks for updates of the latest support package of software component FRUN-CONT in the SAP Support Portal.
  • New content is downloaded automatically if the setting described in the Configure ABAP Download Service section (see below) is active.

The Background Job ‘SAP_FRN_RCD_CHECK_UPDATES’ is scheduled weekly.

Use transaction SM37 to check the user who would be executing the background job.

In SM37, select the job entry and choose Step.

Note that the user in the following screenshot is FRN_BTC_RCD.

If this job is not scheduled, the latest support package updates of software component FRUN-CONT are not automatically downloaded. You must download the updates manually using the manual download option in the Rapid Content Delivery application.

Configure ABAP Download Service

Configuration of the ABAP download service is required for automatically downloading the latest content. This download is done using a background job. It is not necessary to configure the ABAP download service if you use the manual download option. For more information about the ABAP download service check SAP Note 3588630(opens in new tab).

To change the ABAP download service settings (in transaction SDS_CONFIGURATION), you need to assign the role SAP_BC_SDS_CONF_ADMIN to the user who maintains the configuration.

Change the S-User Configuration

  1. Open transaction SDS_CONFIGURATION.
  2. Go to Change mode.
  3. On the S-User Data tab page, choose Create Entry.
  4. Enter an S-user name and its password for download access in the SAP Support Portal .
  5. Confirm your entries by choosing Continue and then Save.

Note: If you want to create a user-specific S-user entry, enter the user name, the S-user name, and the password for download access in the SAP Support Portal.

Set Up the Target Directory

The logic file for RCD is CSU_DOWNLOAD_SERVICE_DIR and the logic path is CSU_DOWNLOAD_SERVICE. This is active by default and shipped by SAP with the default parameters.

Note: Execute this step only if you want to change the default values.

Maintain Execution Parameters

  • Set the Logical File to CSU_DOWNLOAD_SERVICE_DIR. You may leave the User Name field empty.

Note: The Logical File is set to DOWNLOAD_SERVICE_DIR by default.

Change it to CSU_DOWNLOAD_SERVICE_DIR.

  • You may enter a user-specific entry. In this case, the user name should be the background user name.

Change the Block Size to 10 MB as shown in the screenshot below. The following screenshots describe the same:
