Integrating Unspecific Systems or Cloud Services in AIM Scenarios

When modeling an AIM scenario it can become necessary to add non-SAP systems or services to the scenario to provide a holistic picture of the integrations within the entire landscape. This page describes how you can add these systems and services as UNSPECIFIC systems and services to AIM scenarios.

Prerequisites

Before adding an unspecific technical system or unspecific cloud service to AIM they must be added to the LMDB resp. the Cloud Service Management.

Adding an Unspecific System to LMDB

  1. Open the LMDB - Object Maintenance from the Focused Run launchpad
  2. Switch the the tab 'Single Customer Network'
  3. Check the selected Customer Network. If it is not correct
    1. On the 'All Customer Networks' tab search for a system that is in the network you want to use and display the system details.
    2. Copy the value for the Namespace in the systems header data
    3. On the tab 'Single Customer Network' click on the 'Switch Namespace' button
    4. Enter the namespace of the Customer Network in the input field for the 'CIM Namespace Name'
    5. Press Enter or click the 'Close' button
  4. Go to 'Technical Systems'
  5. Click the 'Create' button
  6. Select type 'Unspecific Cluster System'
    1. You can also use Unspecific 3-Tier System or Unspecific Standalone Application System. In these cases you must provide a host name for the unspecific system
  7. Click 'Next'
  8. Define System:
    1. Enter a 'System Name'
    2. Select the appropriate 'Technology Type', e.g. 'Others'
  9. Select an Extended System ID
  10. Click 'Next'
  11. Click 'Save'
  12. On the following screen on the tab 'Attributes' set the 'Lifecycle Status' to 'Active'
  13. Save you changes.
Please note: It can take up to 15 minutes until the newly created unspecific system is available to be added in AIM.

Adding an Unspecific Cloud Service

  1. Open "Cloud Service Management' from the Focused Run launchpad
  2. Click the 'Add' button
  3. Enter the required information
    1. Cloud Service Type: Unspecific Cloud Service (HTTP)
    2. Service Name: Enter a name for the cloud service
    3. Root URL: Enter the URL for the cloud service
  4. Select the customer network
  5. Enter or generate the Extended Service Id
  6. Click the 'Save' button

Add System or Cloud Service to AIM

  7. Click the 'Save' button

Please note that you cannot add monitoring categories or alerts to unspecific technical systems. The 'Next' button and the sections for 'Categories', 'Monitoring' and 'Alerting' will be deactivated.
