The primary goal of the selective data transfer (SDT) is to ensure a seamless transition of solution documentation from SAP Solution Manager to SAP Cloud ALM. In general, the following steps need to be performed for a successful migration of data:

  • Scope: Select and scope the data in SAP Solution Manager that should be migrated to SAP Cloud ALM
  • Export: Download the selected data.
  • Adjust: Adjust the data, if necessary (this is an optional step).
  • Import: Upload data to SAP Cloud ALM
  • Validate: Verify the uploaded data in SAP Cloud ALM for correctness

Use this overview presentation for a walk-through of the selective data transfer from SAP Solution Manager to SAP Cloud ALM. Also, the SAP Readiness Check for SAP Cloud ALM provides valuable information to prepare the selective data transfer.

How to get started

Availability of SDT capabilities

The capabilities for the selective data transfer from SAP Solution Manager to SAP Cloud ALM are released in iterations. This phased approach allows for continuous improvements and the addition of new capabilities over time. As a result, not all components may be available immediately. To stay informed about the availability and capabilities of selective data transfer, regularly check the SAP Roadmap Explorer(opens in new tab).

How to Read the Chart

This chart provides insights into which entities are already covered during Selective Data Transfer (SDT), which are in development, and which are not available.

Columns and Rows

Rows (1-9): Represent the upload sequence of entities during selective data transfer, such as Process Hierarchy, Applications, and Interfaces.

Columns (A-J): Represent the areas or objects that can be related through selective data transfer, such as Process Hierarchy, Applications, and Configurations.

Color Coding

Green (Available in SAP Cloud ALM): The functionality is fully available for selective data transfer.

Yellow (On SAP Cloud ALM Road Map): The functionality is currently under development and planned for future availability.
If there are green and yellow items mixed the functionality is partially available.

Black (Not available): The functionality is not planned for implementation.

Gray (Not Applicable): The functionality is not relevant or applicable to that specific area.

Example Interpretation

Process Hierarchy

Cell A1 (Green): Selective data transfer for the Process Hierarchy is available, allowing the creation of relations between process hierarchy nodes.

All other cells in row 1 (Gray): The Process Hierarchy does not establish direct relations to other elements in SAP Cloud ALM.

Applications

Cells A2, C2 (Green): Selective data transfer for Applications is available and supports relations with Process Hierarchy and Configuration Library.

Cell E2 (Yellow): Future support is planned for relations between Applications and the Developments Library.

Cell B7 (Black): There is no planned support for relations between Applications and Solution Processes.

This chart ensures that you can quickly interpret the availability and planned support for entity relations in SAP Cloud ALM Selective Data Transfer.

There may be a couple of SAP Notes that are relevant for the selective data transfer. You can find them on SAP for Me.

Choose Services & Support and go to the KBAs & Notes tab. Then select the SAP Notes & KBAs Expert Search card.

Specify the search values as follows:

  • Search Term: SDT
  • Components (Start with): SV-SMG-IMP-BIM, SV-SMG-GAL (SV-SMG-OST-FB-TWB if you’re using Focused Build).
  • System

By specifying the system, the list should already be restricted to SAP Notes relevant for the corresponding support package.

You may save this selection and activate the notification to get informed as soon as new SAP Notes are available.
