Getting started with your implementation

Getting ready

  • You will soon receive confirmation from BlackLine "Welcome to BlackLine email" with URL and login instructions and details on how to get started as a new customer
  • To get started, connect with a certified implementation partner 
  • Implementation timeframes fluctuate based off of each organization's complexity, desired approach and number of locations. Implementations range between 6-9 months on average. BlackLine or the implementation partner selected can work with you on an implementation strategy.

What you can do now to prepare for your implementation

  • Identify your core internal project team and stakeholders who will be responsible for the implementation of your system. Ensure the team can dedicate the time necessary to complete a successful project
  • Identify the internal team who will be responsible for maintaining your system post go-live and ensure that they can participate in the implementation
  • Review the official help portal documentation

What to expect after you go live

  • We foster a culture of continuous improvement, adding and driving value. As a team, we help our customers resolve their system and business by embracing our customers' uniqueness within the BlackLine community
  • We are here to serve our customers by supporting and guiding them throughout their journey. We ensure an outstanding highly valuable experience to all individuals seeking help, whether it's necessary support or to simply improve the value of BlackLine products and processes
  • Just like any SAP product, all support and services requests are started and logged directly with SAP. If additional support or service is needed, it will be routed to BlackLine.

How software updates work

  • All BlackLine upgrades and new releases are provided on a quarterly basis
  • All releases and dates are published on
  • New releases are migrated into Sandbox about 4 weeks prior to the production release


BlackLine U Learning Portal

  • We are offering complimentary and on demand learning offerings to customers on BlackLine U
  • Access to the learning portal is provided to all customers with their BlackLine subscription. This portal is available 24x7 and provides a solid foundation to get you started. Take advantage of eLearning, recordings, new feature training, and standard learning paths.
BlackLine U Learning Management Administration
  • Designated BlackLine Administrators have additional privileges to help manage BlackLine training activities, including user enrollment, and access o learning progress reports

Instructions on how to access is included in BlackLine's Welcome letter:

  1. To access BlackLine U, log into your production or sandbox environment and click on the "?" in the tool bar in the right-hand corner and then select Community
  2. From the Community homepage, select BlackLine U from the top menu bar. 
  3. From BlackLine U, Navigate to the “VIEW BLACKLINE U CATALOGUE HERE” section at the bottom of the page.

We're here to help

  • Your SAP team will remain your primary account team. We are continuously growing!
  • You will be assigned a Customer Success Manager from BlackLine and their contact details will be shared with you soon. This will be your main point of contact at BlackLine and they will be working closely with your SAP team to ensure a seamless experience
