Solution/Tier/Server View
Purpose: This article explains how the users can drill down to Solution/Tier/Server view in Skyline.
Introduction: In Skyline, the landscape can typically be explored at different abstraction levels to help you move from a business view down to the technical infrastructure view:
- Solution View
- Highest level of aggregation.
- Shows the overall SAP solution/business landscape and how systems are grouped into solutions.
- Useful for understanding business services and end-to-end landscape structure.
- Tier View
- Intermediate level.
- Displays logical tiers such as Production, Non-Production, Development, QA, Sandbox, etc., depending on how the landscape is modeled.
- Helps visualize relationships and dependencies between different landscape layers.
- Server View
- Most detailed infrastructure level.
- Shows application and database servers.
- Used for operational analysis and understanding the actual deployment architecture.
- Zoom Based
Zoom in and out using the mouse wheel to switch between landscape, solution, and system-level perspectives
Prerequisites
The user must have either Landscape Owner or Landscape Viewer role assigned.

Access
- Log in to SAP for Me: https://me.sap.com/home
- Click on: “Portfolio Products”, and later “My Product Portfolio”
- Choose tile: “Landscape Hub”
- Landscape Hub will open in a new window
Navigation Steps
In Skyline, each level serves a different purpose, allowing users to move from a business-oriented view to technical infrastructure details. Skyline also provides common navigation features such as time travel, filtering, and landscape plate navigation to explore the landscape from different perspectives.
Using the following options, users can view individual elements in the landscape:
- Selecting from View level – Zoom based/Solutions/Tiers/Servers
Note: The View level drop-down has Zoom based as the default option – using the mouse wheel, users can zoom in from solutions level down to tiers level, and then to individual application and database server level.
- Selecting individual elements in Solution/Tiers/Servers view
- Selecting elements in details card, for the selected solution/tier/server
- Selecting elements in details card in Time travel view.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Solution Level
What you see
The Solution level provides the highest-level view of the SAP landscape. It shows:
- Business solutions
- How systems are organized within a solution
Typical questions answered
- Which solutions are part of my SAP contract?
- How are systems grouped from a business perspective?
Navigation options
- Select a solution to drill down into its tiers.
2. Tier Level
What you see
The Tier level breaks a solution into logical operational layers such as:
- Production
- Quality Assurance (QA)
- Development
- Test
- Sandbox
- Other customer-defined landscape tiers
Typical questions answered
- Which systems belong to Production?
- Which tier will be impacted by a planned change?
Navigation options
- Expand or collapse tiers.
- Drill into individual servers within a tier.
3. Server Level
What you see
This is the most detailed infrastructure view. It exposes technical deployment information such as Application servers, DB servers, with their start and end dates, capacity, and other component data.
Typical questions answered
- On which host is a system running?
- What servers support a particular SAP system?
- How are application and database components connected?
- Which infrastructure elements are affected by a planned change?
Navigation options
- Drill into individual application and database servers.
- Trace relationships between servers and SAP systems.
Features Available Across All Levels
Time Travel
View the landscape at different points in time, including planned future changes within the contract period.
Filtering
Focus on relevant objects by filtering on:
- Solution
- System Type
- Labels
Landscape Plate Navigation
Move and rotate across landscape "plates" to understand system relationships and dependencies from different perspectives.
Expected Results
Drill-down path:
Solution → Tier → Server
This hierarchy lets stakeholders start with a broad business landscape view and progressively navigate to the underlying technical infrastructure when deeper analysis is needed.
