Digital Blueprint: First Release

The digital blueprint is the first feature release of the SAP Business Transformation Center, which helps customers and partners define the migration and transformation scope for transitioning from SAP ERP Central Component (SAP ECC) to SAP S/4HANA. It provides data-driven guidance and recommendations for decision-making roles, architects, and subject matter experts. The digital blueprint solution is included in SAP Cloud Service subscriptions and SAP Enterprise Support. Additionally, it offers actionable insights into business data and supports data scope workshops with solution architects or data lead roles at consulting partners. The result is a data specification documentation (”blueprint") that can serve as a basis for migration. Enhancements to the SAP Business Transformation Center will be delivered continuously after general availability and be provisioned according to SAP´s cloud deployment model.

The SAP Readiness Check for usage data profiling (UDP) is a prerequisite for the use of SAP Business Transformation Center. To be able to execute the UDP and to generate a file suitable for SAP Business Transformation Center digital blueprint , the basis SAP Note 3112362 is required in your source system. On top of it, SAP Note 3275056 provides SAP Business Transformation Center mandatory enhancements for the UDP.

SAP Business Transformation Center aims to support customers in their transition from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA on premise and SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition. There is currently no plan to support a transition to SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition. However, the SAP Business Transformation Center analysis capabilities of your current SAP ECC source system are independent of the target deployment option of SAP S/4HANA.

No, only an SAP ECC source system can be used as a source system leveraging the SAP Business Transformation Center capabilities.

The Digital Blueprint is the first solution increment of the SAP Business Transformation Center. It serves as a starting point in a transition from SAP ECC to S/4HANA by providing transparency about the SAP ECC system usage and data offering scoping capabilities. It is planned to use the results of the Digital Blueprint to execute a data migration from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA On Premise and SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition. It is specifically aiming a Selective Data Transition migration approach. The SAP Business Transformation Center does not aim to replace existing SAP tools for a system conversion from ECC to S/4HANA, like e.g. the Software Update Manager (SUM).

No, there is no distinct recommendation which transition path shall be used. However, the provided analysis capabilities can be supportive while determining the favourable transition approach. In addition, SAP and its partners of the Selective Data Transition Engagement are offering consulting services to assist in this matter.
