The Monitoring Dashboards application in SAP Cloud ALM allows operations teams to design and share personalized dashboard pages that combine analytics from multiple SAP Cloud ALM for Operations use cases into unified views. Rather than navigating between individual monitoring applications, you can compose tailored dashboards from a predefined library of cards and share them across your team.
The Monitoring Dashboards application in SAP Cloud ALM offers the following features:
View the status of your services and systems.
Design personalized dashboards using a predefined library of cards.
Create unified views by combining analytics from across different apps in SAP Cloud ALM for operations.
Visualize data with a variety of chart types.
Leverage SAP catalogs of cards for quick and consistent insights.
Understanding the following concepts is key to working effectively with Monitoring Dashboards.
Dashboard Pages Individual views that display a collection of dashboard cards. Pages can be customized by arranging cards to highlight the most relevant information for your team. Pages support variant management, allowing you to create multiple tailored views of the same page for different audiences or scenarios. Pages can be set to public (visible to all users with viewer permissions) or private (accessible only to the creator).
Dashboard Cards Modular, reusable components that visualize a specific metric or data set. Cards can be customized in terms of content, size, and layout. SAP provides a catalog of predefined cards covering all major SAP Cloud ALM for Operations scenarios. Custom cards can be created using Joule AI-Assisted Dashboards.
Metrics and Dimensions Quantifiable measures produced by the monitoring apps (e.g., response times, CPU utilization, job error counts, business process failure rates). Dimensions provide the context for these metrics, such as service name, request type, exception category, or job category.
Monitoring Dashboards integrates with Joule to enable AI-assisted card creation. With a valid Joule and Dashboard Generation Agent subscription, users can:
Joule AI-Assisted Dashboards are available directly within the Monitoring Dashboards application and support all major data sources: Real User Monitoring, Health Monitoring, Integration Monitoring, Exception Monitoring, Jobs and Automation Monitoring, Business Process Monitoring, Monitoring Events, and Configuration & Security Analysis.
For setup prerequisites, see Onboarding Joule(opens in new tab).
The Joule Dashboard Generation Agent for SAP Cloud ALM lets operations teams create and modify monitoring dashboard cards through natural language prompts eliminating the need for manual configuration, multi-step forms, and trial-and-error filter testing. It automatically handles metric discovery, configuration, and card creation, and is context-aware enough to suggest available metrics based on the user's current system scope.
This video demonstrates how to use the agent directly within the Monitoring Dashboards app to create dashboard cards, reducing complex setup to a single sentence.
