Test Management

This page should give you expert knowledge on the Test Management capabilities in SAP Cloud ALM.

With the Test Management capabilities in SAP Cloud ALM you can prepare and execute manual and automated tests. For some solutions like S/4HANA the Best Practice content provides standard test cases that can be imported into SAP Cloud ALM and so accelerates the preparation process.

In addition, we can integrate Test Automation Tools e.g. S/4HANA Cloud Test Automation Tool that also provides standard test cases that can be synchronized and executed with SAP Cloud ALM. SAP Cloud ALM offers a holistic orchestration platform for all types of functional tests which could be linked to Solution Processes, Requirements and User Stories to support an E2E implementation process with full traceability.

Test Preparation

Test Preparation Tile	In the Test Preparation app, you can manage and prepare test cases to ensure that the requirements you've implemented work from a functional perspective.

Test Plans

Test Plans Tile	In the Test Plans app, you can create the test plans, assign Test Cases that have been created in the Test Preparation app, and track the preparation and the execution progress of the test cases per test plan.
Function	Feature	Feature Description
Test Plan Overview	Create Test Plan	Create test plan, assign responsible and define time frame of your test cycle
Test Plan Overview	Status tracking	Track the preparation and the execution progress of the test cases per test plan
Test Plan Overview	Delete Test Plan	You can delete test plans, if you don't need them anymore. Please note: all related test runs, test results in test execution are deleted too.
Test Plan Details	Assign Test Cases	Select and assign test cases which are relevant for your test cycle and application area.
Test Plan Details	Assign Tester	You can assign a tester to each Test Case part of a Test Plan so, the tester can filter in Test Execution for assigned Test Cases.
Test Plan Details	Set Test Plan to 'In Testing'	After switching the test plan status to ‘In Testing', all assigned test cases in status ‘Prepared' get a new occurrence (execution context) and the test execution can be started.
Test Plan Details	Remove Test Cases from Test Plan	You can remove test cases from test plan, if you decide they are not relevant for current test cycle Please note: all related test runs, test results in test execution are deleted too.
Test Plan Details	Set Test Plan to 'Finished'	After your test cycle is finished, you can set the test plan status to finished.

Test Execution Tile	In the Test Execution app, you can execute the test cases that have been prepared in the Test Preparation app, and track the progress of the test execution.

Test Execution Overview	Execute Test Case	Start a new Test Run
Test Execution Overview	Resume Test Execution	Resume an incomplete Test Run for Manual Test Case
Test Execution Overview	Action Status	Each Test Action can be rated as passed or failed
Test Execution Overview	Document Test Result via Comments	Use Comment feature to document your test execution (Evidence, Test Data, Failure)
Test Execution Overview	Create / Assign Defects	Identified issues during testing can be reported by creating a Defect
Test Execution Overview	Finish Test Run	As soon you have completed your testing and defects have been resolved you can finish your Test Run
Test Execution Overview	Automated Test Case	Start Execution, Refresh Test Progress / Status, Navigate to Execution Log

Manage Defects	Defect Details	Enter description of defect, assign tags and related release
Manage Defects	Set Defect Status	Set status to reflect the progress of defect resolution
Manage Defects	Assign Team / Assignee	Assign team and person responsible for defect resolution. Select user interested in defect resolution
Manage Defects	Set Priority	Set priority according to criticality and urgency of the defect
Manage Defects	Set Planned Completion Date	Enter date when defect should be resolved
