Simplified usage rights, easy to understand and self-explanatory

This page explains the usage rights of SAP Solution Manager for customers with an active SAP support and maintenance agreement. And is provided for general informational purposes only, the terms and conditions of your agreements with SAP govern SAP support services.

SAP Solution Manager is delivered as part of the support contract. Within this contract, SAP grants usage rights for SAP Solution Manager. The scope of the usage rights depends on the maintenance agreement.*

The released usage rights turns into simple and clear description:

  • The scope of the usage rights is independent of the SAP Solution Manager release
  • SAP Enterprise Support** customers can manage their whole IT with SAP Solution Manager
  • SAP Standard Support customers can only manage SAP components with SAP Solution Manager
  • SAP Enterprise Support** customers can use the full functional scope of SAP Solution Manager including the SAP Enterprise Support only functionalities
  • SAP Standard Support customers can use the full functional scope of SAP Solution Manager, except the SAP Enterprise Support only functionalities

*SAP Partners might have different definitions of usage rights, therefore contact your SAP partner manager.
**The scope encompassed to SAP Enterprise Support is also valid for Product Support for Large Enterprises and our
     premium engagements SAP ActiveEmbedded, and SAP MaxAttention.

Drop of Named User requirement in 2018


As of 1st January 2018 the requirement of Named user Licenses will be removed for the usage of SAP Solution Manager. Making it easier for you to leverage the full potential of SAP Solution Manager, read the Drop of named user requirement document for more details.


SAP MaxAttention & SAP ActiveEmbedded

For our customers of SAP MaxAttention Support Services and SAP ActiveEmbedded Support Services we constantly add value by extending or adding services which increase the value of SAP Solution Manager.

As part of these services, SAP SE leverages additional software and/or content for SAP Solution Manager. The software and the content are installed as part of a set-up service. Customers of SAP MaxAttention Support Services and SAP ActiveEmbedded Support Services are entitled to use such additional software and content after service delivery so long as Licensee complies with the term of the SAP MaxAttention Support Services, SAP ActiveEmbedded Support Services and Enterprise Support agreements. Licensee is permitted to use the additional software and content for the duration of the SAP MaxAttention Support Services and SAP ActiveEmbedded Support Services agreement. Upon the expiration of the SAP MaxAttention Support Services and SAP ActiveEmbedded Support Services agreement, Licensee’s right to use the additional software and content provided under the SAP MaxAttention Support Services and SAP ActiveEmbedded Support Services agreement is terminated.
