HTTP

HTTP and HTTPS are the most common technologies to connect to an SAP system and also how SAP systems connect to each other and to non-SAP systems. Hence a good HTTP and HTTPS performance is important for the SAP system. With SAP Focused Run you can monitor the performance for every HTTP or HTTPS call to and from your SAP system.  

Technical Prerequisites

The following technical prerequisites have to be met in order to use the HTTP monitoring:

  • The managed system is ABAP based system with basis release ≥ 7.0
  • The managed system has at least ST-PI  2008_1 SP06 or higher

Performance measurements are based on Real-User Monitoring (RUM) which is also a part of SAP Focused Run. When HTTP(S) performance monitoring is set up, RUM is automatically configured in the background.

Available Monitoring Categories

The available monitoring categories are:

  • HTTP Performance (ABAP): HTTP calls to URLs exposed by the ABAP system
  • HTTPS Performance (ABAP): HTTPS calls to URLs exposed by the ABAP system
  • HTTP Performance (Java): HTTP calls to URLs exposed by the Java system
  • HTTPS Performance (Java): HTTPS calls to URLs exposed by the Java system
 

Available Filter Options

For HTTP performance monitoring, you can collect all http(s) requests in the managed system. You can also use the following filter parameters, to restrict the data collection:

HTTP Performance (ABAP)

  • Path: Request name in RUM or service path in SICF

HTTPS Performance (ABAP)

  • Path: Request name in RUM or service path in SICF

HTTP Performance (Java)

  • Path: Request name in RUM

HTTPS Performance (Java)

  • Path: Request name in RUM

Available Metrics

For HTTP performance monitoring the following metrics are collected:

HTTP Performance (ABAP)

  • Http Response Time: Average response time of the HTTP requests in milliseconds.
    • Additional filter fields:
      • Previous Component: Previous component in RUM

HTTPS Performance (ABAP)

  • Https Response Time: Average response time of the HTTPS requests in milliseconds.
    • Additional filter fields:
      • Previous Component: Previous component in RUM

HTTP Performance (Java)

  • Http Response Time: Average response time of the HTTP requests in milliseconds.
    • Additional filter fields:
      • Previous Component: Previous component in RUM

HTTPS Performance (Java)

  • Https Response Time: Average response time of the HTTPS requests in milliseconds.
    • Additional filter fields:
      • Previous Component: Previous component in RUM
