Dashboard

The SAP EarlyWatch Alert Dashboard (opens in new tab)application(opens in new tab) provides a system specific overview on hardware consumption. SAP HANA memory and CPU consumption charts are accessible and provide a long-term history, depending on when you connected the system to SAP EarlyWatch Alert.

The application can be started via SAP EarlyWatch Alert Workspace (card Top Systems) or stand-alone.

Procedure

Go to Services & SupportDiagnostics tabSAP EarlyWatch Dashboard.

Required Authorization

To use the Dashboard app, you need one of the following authorizations:

  • Service Reports and Feedback
  • Service Reports (Partner)

Find out more on the About the user, authorization and administrator concept page.

Header Area

Choose System Information to get information on relevant information on the analyzed system such as customer name and number, installation number, system number, product version, and several more.

The alert status consists of the System Status itself, the SAP HANA Database, and the Hardware Capacity. Choose the one of the links to display the corresponding part of the SAP EarlyWatch Alert report. The tendency of the different alerts is calculated by comparing the numbers with the preceding report.

To change the report date, select Previous Week, Next Week, or Last Week in the upper right corner of the screen. Note that this will affect the time frames on the whole page.

General

Each analytical cards provides an information icon in the upper right corner. It opens an enhanced documentation of the displayed data in KPI catalog.

The KPI catalog is a cloud service offered by SAP containing definitions, technical documentation, and comprehensive descriptions of KPIs (key performance indicators) and associated metrics that are available to you in different SAP products.

Dashboard Sections Explained

The table below lists all the sections within the app and includes details of what they do and how to use them.

SECTIONDETAILS
System

Displays System related KPIs:

•   Response Time
•   Activity (in Steps)
•   Database on Disk (in Gb)
•   Alert History

SAP HANA Database

Visible for a system running on SAP HANA Databases. Displays SAP HANA Database related KPIs:

•   CPU Rating
•   Memory Rating
•   Memory Area

Application Servers

Displays Application Servers related KPIs:

•   CPU Rating
•   Memory rating
•   Users
•   Top Transactions

Business Warehouse

Visible for Business Warehouse systems. Displays Business Warehouse related KPIs:

•   Reporting Workload
•   Executions
•   Reporting User
•   Upload Statistics
•   Top Queries
•   Top Process Chains
•   Load Profile
•   Data Loading per Source System

User Experience

Visible in case OData traffic was detected in the system. If you miss some of the charts could indicate that the minimum system requirements are not met. Please refer to SAP note 2939430.

You can classify the new User Experience (UX) segment in three sections:

•   UX Adoption
•   System Performance
•   System Health

With the time traveler UI element on the right upper corner of the User Experience (UX) segment you are able to view information that is even further back.

UX Adoption

This section includes the two charts:

•   Usable SAPUI5 Applications
•   Application Components.

Both charts give you a picture of how far SAP's Fiori UX Strategy is adopted on the system.

The Usable SAPUI5 Applications chart shows the number of correctly configured UI5 applications for the last five weeks in a timeline chart. The chart legend explains the three lines.

Correctly configured means that the app's ICF service is active, its (leading) OData service is registered in transaction /IWFND/MAINT_SERVICE, a system alias has been assigned, and some additional minor checks were performed successfully. The correct backend configuration cannot be checked since it is app specific.

With the Application Components diagram you figure out to which SAP Application Components the apps belong.

System Performance

These charts provide you with an overview about the OData performance respective to workload. The Top OData Service Calls chart on OData level and the OData Requests chart on system level.

With the perspective switch (dropdown field) on the Top OData Service Calls chart you are able to select between three performance relevant views.

System Health

This section consists again of two diagrams and indicates how healthy the OData communication of the system is. The first one Top Gateway Errors is self-explanatory and shows, alterable by the perspective switch, either the five most frequently occurred errors or the top five of errors that affected most users.

This chart is also connected to a detail page which you can reach via the dedicated button. The page lists all Gateway errors of the selected week and provides detail information. The trend arrows for the fields Number of Occurrences and Distinct Users compare the values of the displayed week with the values of its preceding week.

The second diagram, with the title Gateway Errors, reflects the total number of Gateway errors on system level for the last five weeks.

ICF Security chart

This chart shows the number of activated ICF services within the UI5 repository with the ones of the apps which are configured, so that they can be used.

In an ideal system configuration the Activated ICF Services bar should be slightly higher than the Usable Apps bar, since there are some ICF service, which should be enabled and are not directly linked to a Fiori app.

To know which ICF service is unused and are candidates for deactivation you can open the chart's detail page via the dedicated button on the right upper corner.
